Eek! The blown vein is even worse than I thought.
And the very word "squamous" makes me queasy. As do the late-night phone calls.
One of my sisters, healthy all her life, suddenly has a blood clot at 61, in her leg, and other weird symptoms that would have me running to the gastroen---ist (gastroenterologist! Think "enter" in the middle to spell it on the first try!) for a swallow test (barium, ugh), but she's in denial about her splendid health no longer being so splendid after passing age 60.
