Oh, how I love this, all of it, condensed version of a year in the life, oops, now it's more than a year, with no end in sight!
You may have been one of the first New Yorkers to experience Covid, before anyone was looking for it, testing for it. Tim's cousin, the bachelor dairy farmer, was sick that whole month of Jan. 2020 and thought he'd picked up the flu at Midnight Mass on Christmas, but when the news headlines appeared, he felt certain he had barely recovered (at home! no doctors!) from Covid.
Covid decimated my social life. I spent days on end all alone. ... I set out to find the silver linings of covid. I went inward. I found the pulse. I learned that, wherever I am, I am surrounded by community in the form of wild life. I learned that a cricket on asphalt can give me company.
