Sam, 5 months late, I find this post. How did I fall off the face of the earth again. You have so many amazing things to share!!! You're the first person I thought of when I happened across this item of

The ending of this novel was (in my opinion) needlessly tragic. Surprising, yes, but our hero pays the ultimate sacrifice. I'd rather his stupid girlfriend paid the price he paid... I passed over in silence

Ok, I probably gave up too soon. Twice a day for six months - nope, I did not do that. THANK YOU for the information!!! You are inspiring!

Their mom, that is, not my mom. Mom was a baby, with brothers age 10 and age 7, when their mom died. Oh the scars it can leave - however well hidden - buried deep! Food is magic; food is the cure for so

I loved Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love. The argument/showdown with Phillip Seymour Hoffman was classic! I would watch this movie based on your review alone. I'd watch it just for the soundtrack - you

Thank you so much for reading and commenting! My mom's brother did the same thing at age ten - "I wish you were dead!" - and soon Mom was in the hospital with pneumonia, and she never came home

You use DMSO? Please, please tell me how you use it!!! I have four bottles, never used! --I did try it for knee pain but quit due to the disclaimer about scrupulously clean skin and our bodies absorbing

You nailed it! The reason I am drawn to historical fiction is also the reason I'm allergic to it (so painful to read). This is a generational saga, full of magical, supernatural and superstitious elements,

Harry!!!! I love Harry Potter!!! and I love that you correctly use "penultimate" - I'm embarrassed to confess that despite a degree in English teaching, I only recently realized it means

In 2008, a friend asked me to buy this book and read it with her. She never did follow up, but I read the whole thing and learned some things, but also felt frustrated by the way he got to have a revelation

Thank you for this review of a great TV show, spectacularly well done, and well acted by unknowns (to us in America anyway). I love seeing new, young actors get a chance at starring roles. You make a most

One of my favorite books - AND movies! For me, the scene I can't unsee is the good neighbor hauled away by the Nazis and how powerless the German civilians were to stop them. Your review makes me want

Good for you! In looking up the CDS, I came across an item I bought several years ago at a friend's urging: DMSO 8 oz. Glass Bottle Non-diluted 99.995% Pure Low Odor Pharma Grade Liquid Dimethyl Sulfoxide

I love your sense of humor! People often ask me how I stay so trim, vibrant, and energetic at the advanced age of 62. Well, they don’t, but they should. and So you can see I am a paragon of virtue and

Ohhhhh no I was hoping for a happy ending. This is excruciating! And oh man do I ever do that: hide something in a safe place, which becomes hidden from my memory. Or a clever new password: I'll never

Beautiful, moving, visceral writing - how I wish it were fiction, spun straight from the imagination, not real life. Your loss is so keen and so profound. We've heard for years that time heals all wounds.

This is what I do not miss: my being hesitant to express an opinion that is contrary to the opinion of most of the other people in a room. Raise your voice! YES!! I need this -- and yes, you are a role

I just finished reading the ebook (ARC, Advance Reader Copy), and I gotta warn, the ending is unexpected ... I was not ok with it.... and for me there was way too much detail about gourmet cooking. Expensive

That is hilarious!!! Also, I need to find this: a series I am currently bingeing, titled "High Potential."

This post (and I post I wrote way back when, about my mom and her dad's goulash) came to mind when I read about a Simon and Schuster novel coming out soon: Set in the bustling world of New York restaurants
