Hello to everyone in the community ! Today I bring you a new post about Las Vegas. A special post. This time I want to share with you what was my visit to the Botanical Garden of the Bellagio Hotel & Casino, the latter being one of the most beautiful buildings in the city of Las Vegas. This space is known by tourists and residents as one of the most visited because constantly throughout the year there are landscape designs that go according to a particular theme: The Four Seasons, the Chinese New Year, the Day of Love, Christmas, etc.. The attraction of this place is that everything is beautifully decorated with flowers, so it is a work that goes hand in hand with aesthetics, architecture and engineering. Let's start with it.
For the time I attended the Bellagio Botanical Garden in December, the theme of the moment was The Nutcracker. Here they always present themes that turn into fantasy. So all the characters from the fairy tale were there, represented by large figures covered in flowers, fabrics and ornaments. There is really no detail that is left out because every figure, space and corner was well cared for with the intention of not breaking the illusion of the viewer. I found it amazing as I had never been in front of these giants of flowers before and it makes you wonder how the people behind this work were able to make such monumental installations. So I started to do some research about it.
¡Hola a todos en la comunidad ! El día de hoy les traigo una nueva publicación sobre Las Vegas. Una publicación especial. En esta oportunidad quiero compartir con ustedes lo que fue mí visita al Jardín Botánico del Hotel&Casino Bellagio, siendo este último uno de los edificios más bellos de toda la ciudad de Las Vegas. Este espacio es conocido por turistas y residentes cómo uno de los más visitados pues constantemente a lo largo del año se realizan diseños de paisajes que van acorde a una temática en particular: Las Cuatro Estaciones, el Año Nuevo Chino, El día del Amor, Navidad, etc. El atractivo de este lugar es que todo está bellamente decorado con flores, por lo cual, es un trabajo que va de la mano con lo estético, la arquitectura y la ingeniería. Comencemos con ello.
Para la época en la que asistí al Jardín Botánico del Bellagio, en diciembre, la temática del momento fue El Cascanueces. Aquí siempre se presentan temáticas que se convierten en fantasía. Por lo cual todos los personajes del cuento se encontraban allí presentes, representados a través de grandes figuras cubiertas por flores, telas y adornos. Realmente no hay detalle que se deje de lado pues cada figura, espacio y esquina se encontraba bien cuidado con la intención de no romper la ilusión del espectador. A mí me pareció asombroso pues nunca antes había estado frente a estos gigantes de flores y te hace pensar cómo fue posible que las personas detrás de este trabajo hayan podido realizar estas instalaciones tan monumentales. Así que comencé a investigar un poco sobre ello.
It turns out that the person behind it all is Ed Libby, a landscape designer who started out working in a flower shop in New Jersey. His skill, creativity and work with flowers earned him national recognition and soon MGM Resorts hired him to be the creative designer for the Bellagio Hotel. Today Ed continues to be responsible for the management behind the installations at the Botanical Garden. Therefore, the Botanical Garden is not only a space that is admired for its great beauty but also for the human capacity to materialize such a great and ambitious idea. The architecture is present through Ed's landscaping work, which means that each installation has a well thought-out artistic aspect: a pleasant composition, colors and elements that harmonize, a concept materialized in work, the labor and skill to execute, etc. The merit is more than granted.
Finally my friends, it is not easy to have to occupy 1,250 square meters in such an extraordinary way as Ed Libby does. Of course, there is also a great team behind that head. So I recommend you to stop by if at any given time you have the opportunity to be in Las Vegas, because this city is not only casinos/gambling but also an architectural record that exhibits the human capacity to conceive/build functional and beautiful spaces. Resulta que la persona detrás de todo esto es Ed Libby,un paisajista que comenzó trabajando en una florería en New Jersey. Su habilidad, creatividad y trabajo con las flores le valió el reconocimiento nacional por lo que pronto MGM Resorts, lo contrató para que fuera el diseñador creativo del Hotel Bellagio. Actualmente Ed sigue siendo el responsable del manejo detrás de las instalaciones que se realizan en el Jardín Botánico. Por lo cual, el Jardín Botánico no es solo un espacio que se admira por su gran belleza sino por la capacidad humana de materializar una idea tan grande y ambiciosa. La arquitectura esta presente a través del trabajo paisajístico de Ed, lo que conlleva a qué cada instalación tenga un aspecto artístico bien pensado: una composición agradable, colores y elementos que armonizan, un concepto materializado en obra, la labor y habilidad para ejecutar, etc. El mérito está más que concedido.
Finalmente amigos míos, no es cosa fácil tener que ocupar 1,250 metros cuadrados de forma tan extraordinaria cómo lo hace Ed Libby. Aunque claro, también hay un gran equipo detrás de esa cabeza. Así que les recomiendo pasar por allí si en algún momento dado tienen la oportunidad de estar en Las Vegas, pues esta ciudad no es solo casinos/juegos de azar sino también un registro arquitectónico que exhibe la capacidad humana para concebir/construir espacios funcionales y bellos.
