Just a thought...
Ya know how sometimes when a friend or mentor makes a statement that strikes you as profound ? You know that you will always remember it , and often reflect on it for years to come. Many times certain events and special occasions will imprint an indelible image in your mind and on your life.
Today is the 42nd anniversary of the birth of my first child. It was the greatest day of my life, and although my life has been blessed with a veritable plethora of meaningful moments, this one stands alone.
At first I thought I had suddenly grown a few inches, until I realized I was walking on air. As a child of the sixties, I had been exposed to some of the mind altering options which were available at that time, however nothing had ever induced such a pure and rich euphoria as our beautiful new daughter. I was overcome with tears and laughter at the same time. These feelings continued for hours.
I do not intend to diminish any of the other outstanding memories that I possess, but since today happens to be my daughter's birthday, I would like to announce to all who may deem this of any significance...I have presented her with a personal check in the amount of one million dollars.
YES YOU HEARD IT RIGHT...a MILLION BUCKS.
OK...I confess that she may encounter a slight delay in the availability of funds, but like the title says ..."It"s the thought that counts".
