UVA / UVB.
We all know that standing in the sun for too long will cause sunburn, but why is this? And what is the sun actually doing to our skin when we get a little or a lot of sun exposure? UVB rays are the rays that burn the superficial layer of your skin. These usually cause darkening or redness. UVA are the rays that penetrate a bit deeper into the dermis that contains blood capillaries, nerve endings, sweat glands and hair follicles. When these UVA rays hit unprotected skin they can cause premature aging and wrinkling. Here are some tips to prevent your skin from burning. Wear sunblock This one's obvious but people often dimiss it.
WEARING SUN BLOCK.
Every day especially on your face can help avoid premature aging and wrinkles, while also protecting your skin from burning.
WEARING A HAT.
When knowingly going in to the sun for days at the beach or doing your favorite outdoor activity, it is best to always carry a hat. Overexposure to the sun can damage the skin as well as cause an uncomfortable burning.
WEARING LONG SLEEVES.
Wearing breathable, long sleeved clothing will protect your arms and shoulders from overexposure.
STAYING IN THE SHADE.
Avoiding sun exposure by staying in a shaded area is also an excellent preventative measure. Though the sun feels good on your skin, it’s not always the best thing for it. Soaking up that vitamin D periodically is the best way to control overexposure and long term skin damage.
