Hello, my dear people of the #cycling community, I bring you again my story of the evening ride. Though yesterday was a hectic one as we did our little cassava harvest, I still made sure the ride I planned for was accomplished.
Immediately after doing my part of the harvest task which is gathering the cassava tubers and taking them home, I refreshed and ate another lunch because the first was used for the carrying of basins and wheelbarrow pushing.
After eating, I took a short nap. Immediately I woke, I checked the time and it was just some minutes past four PM. So I left the house to Mike's place to get my bike.
When I got my bike, I took it out from the gate and began my ride around town.
It was stressful for me to get pictures while riding as the road track was too small to contain the two-way traffic. No lane for cyclists, dangerous for me to take shots while riding. But I managed to take some.
As I headed towards Ibom Plaza, I saw many other cyclists who were stuck up there in a traffic jam and I had no choice but to join them. I wish my Harlom Bullet could fly, hehe.
From Ibom Plaza, I headed to Calabar-itu Highway. On this highway, though there is no marked-out cyclist lane the road is large enough for cyclists to choose their path. I also saw other cyclists riding in the opposite direction to mine.
As I rode down the highway, I saw some boys hanging around a hotel front, this was an opportunity for me to get some shots.
I called one of them, gave him my phone and he snapped me riding around. I didn't leave to go like that, I tipped him some "mana", hehe. When he got the cash, he was very happy and asked me, "Do you need more shots?" I laughed!
It was time to start riding back home, it was getting late. Since most of the street lights around my area were down, I had to ride as fast as possible to get home before it got very dark everywhere.
I was not able to make it as I thought, while still on my way, darkness raged the street.
I had to use light from cars and other vehicles to see my way.
But I was able to make it to Mike's house. I finally parked the bike there and took a short walk to my house.
But before I left Mike's house, by their gate was their neighbor's house. I thought I was the only one still on bike riding but I was surprised to see his neighbor still riding in the dim area.
I tried to convince him to suspend the ride till tomorrow but he refused to listen saying that his parents don't let him ride on school days, only on weekends.
I took some shots of him and left for my house immediately.
It was a great ride for me indeed, I had some aches in the thigh area but I can't forget this quote, "no pain, no gain".
Thanks for reading.
