🇬🇧 Steps, Friends & a Data Center Inside a Mountain 👣⛰️🥚My Actifit Report Card: September 26 2026
Some days you plan to "just do a couple of errands"... and at the end of the evening your step counter is looking at you with respect. 😅 Yesterday was one of those days: a very active one, full of walking, good people and good food. Let's go! 👇
🔧 Hunting for the missing pieces
The compost toilet with solar shower is moving forward, but every building project has the same law of nature: there is always one piece missing. So off I went to track down the last materials we needed. A lot of back and forth, a lot of steps, and in the end the shopping list was finally complete. ✅
Along the way the countryside was busy too: the neighbours on their tractor, hedges being trimmed with the chainsaw... around here nobody stands still! 🚜

🐕 Choko Shock, personal trainer
Between one errand and the next, Choko Shock made sure I didn't forget my real job: taking him for a walk. And then another one. And then another one. 🐾 With a Lagotto around you don't need a fitness app... he is the fitness app.
Meanwhile the hens were enjoying their own lunch in the garden, and the neighbours' kitten came by for the usual inspection. 😼

🍽️ Lunch at Ca' le Suore... and a data center inside a mountain
For lunch I was a guest of our neighbours at Ca' le Suore, where I met some really interesting people: a lovely group of friends from Trentino. 🏔️
The table was a feast: salami, pecorino, olives, artichokes, crudités, grated beetroot with toasted seeds... and then the desserts: a berry tart covered in raspberries and blueberries, tiramisù and a whole tray of cakes. 🍰

Among the guests there was also a university professor from Trento, who told me an incredible story: in Trentino they have built the first data center in Europe inside an active mine, 100 metres under a mountain, cooled naturally by the rock at a steady 12 °C. 🤯 I was so fascinated that I've already written a whole post about it (link coming soon!). 💾⛰️

To close the day, dinner with my guests Giorgio and Mariangela at the Birreria al Pozzo. Good food, a cold beer and lots of laughs: the perfect way to reward all those steps! 🍻

Ci sono giorni in cui pensi di "fare solo un paio di commissioni"... e a fine serata il contapassi ti guarda con rispetto. 😅 Ieri è stata una di quelle giornate: molto attiva, piena di camminate, belle persone e buon cibo. Andiamo! 👇
🔧 A caccia dei pezzi mancanti
La compost toilet con doccia solare va avanti, ma ogni cantiere ha la stessa legge di natura: manca sempre un pezzo. Così sono partito a recuperare gli ultimi materiali che servivano. Tanti avanti e indietro, tanti passi, e alla fine la lista della spesa era finalmente completa. ✅
Lungo la strada anche la campagna era in piena attività: i vicini sul trattore, siepi potate con la motosega... da queste parti nessuno sta fermo! 🚜
🐕 Choko Shock, personal trainer
Tra una commissione e l'altra, Choko Shock si è assicurato che non dimenticassi il mio vero lavoro: portarlo a passeggio. E poi un'altra volta. E poi un'altra ancora. 🐾 Con un Lagotto in casa non serve un'app per il fitness... l'app è lui.
Intanto le galline si godevano il pranzo in giardino e il gattino dei vicini passava per la solita ispezione. 😼
🍽️ Pranzo a Ca' le Suore... e un data center dentro una montagna
A pranzo sono stato ospite dei nostri vicini di Ca' le Suore, dove ho incontrato persone davvero interessanti: una bella compagnia di amici trentini. 🏔️
La tavola era una festa: salame, pecorino, olive, carciofini, verdure crude, barbabietola grattugiata con semi tostati... e poi i dolci: una crostata ricoperta di lamponi e mirtilli, il tiramisù e un intero vassoio di torte. 🍰
Tra gli ospiti c'era anche un professore universitario di Trento, che mi ha raccontato una storia incredibile: in Trentino hanno costruito il primo data center d'Europa dentro una miniera attiva, a 100 metri sotto una montagna, raffreddato in modo naturale dalla roccia a 12 °C costanti. 🤯 Mi ha affascinato così tanto che ci ho già scritto un post intero (@caparadiso/a-data-center-inside-a-mountain-intacture-trentinos-cave-for-the-cloud-or-un-data-center-dentro-la-montagna-intacture-la-grot-hive-140971 ). 💾⛰️

Per chiudere la giornata, cena con i miei ospiti Giorgio e Mariangela alla Birreria al Pozzo. Buon cibo, una birra fresca e tante risate: il modo perfetto per premiare tutti quei passi! 🍻
