A look at the top of my wish list of cards

❓❓ Time to Upgrade ❓❓

"
I've been playing steadily in the gold league for a couple of months now, but I haven't upgraded any of my summoners past the silver level. I've been spending my extra funds on packs, which is fun, but the crap shoot of opening packs is not the most conducive to leveling up specific cards. I'm getting to the point that I'm tired of losing to similar lineups that happen to be leveled up higher than me and I am getting close to concentrating more on single cards than packs.

I know that single cards are a better strategy, but I enjoy opening packs as it brings back the kid in me opening packs of cards looking for the hidden treasure. However, my wishlist of cards and desire to upgrade is starting to outweigh the excitement of pack opening.

❔❔ Where to Start ❔❔

Unfortunately for me my wish list of cards is not short, nor does it discriminate between splinters. That leaves me in a position of having to decide where to start. I've landed on looking to upgrade Tarsa and the Fire splinter. Tarsa was the first summoner I upgraded and has always been one of my favorite splinters. I don't lean on Fire lineups quite as much as I used to, but there were a few points that drew me to this choice first.
CardNotes
Ants gaining Scavenger at level six is one of the first cards I want to upgrade. At low level mana with Shield this card can win a battle by itself. I know because I am tired of getting whooped by it 😀
I know Rats are a very niche card, but those battles when it can be used Redemption is a fun ability to have. During Equalizer, Little League or Melee Mayhem this card is perfect. Plus, I estimate it will likely only cost me $0.16 to get to the next level!
I don't own a lot of cards with the Stun ability, and I really don't own any with that pack the punch that Launcher can. Plus, it is another card I can upgrade for under a dollar.
So I don't use Blood Maker a lot, but for roughly $0.30 I can upgrade to level six and gain Cripple.
Now I'm getting to the cards that will cost a bot more to upgrade. I already love this card to add speed to a typically slow Tarsa lineup, but at level three she adds Affliction and an extra attack
Giant Killer and two extra health. Grum is often taking on large targets as he himself costs eleven mana. This means Giant Killer may actually have a good chance of being useful.
Forgotten One at level three is already a beast with Retaliate, but adding one more attack at level four, on top of Tarsa's buff, makes him an absolute stomper.

This isn't an all encompassing list, but it the the major additions that are drawing me closer to pulling the trigger to upgrade.

Before you Upgrade

One lesson I've learned as I've upgraded is to first rent the cards for a few days to see if they play into your play style and strategies as you would expect. I've failed to do this many times and ended up with cards that I thought would be game changers for me that I don't play as often as I would have thought based upon my play style.

The above cards can currently be rented for about 60 DEC a day, and 40 of that is a level 5 Tarsa. To me it is well worth a couple hundred DEC to determine if I want to go all in or go a different direction. I may find I like most of the cards but a couple of them aren't necessary, or I could find Fire isn't the right splinter for me to go after first and switch gears. Lucky for me I have plenty of cards on my wish list in other splinters if that is the case 🤣
