His ghost weight rests in my arms.
I try to carry him, but he’s a journey
of summer winds slowly twisting
their way into fall.
No amount of
I need him
I need him
I need him
chanting
will allow me to keep up
with his freckled cheeks,
because I am spring flower,
whirlwind trapped around
his jammed soundtrack
mouth that whispers
repeats of
I really like pressing my lips onto yours.
I could hold you in my arms like this forever.
I’ll miss this. I’ll miss you.
I should have known then
when he let go of me like
if I was feather
he had already left
me behind to nest
my way back into
broken heart
crevices.
