Consistency, certainty, and clarity are good friends.
Imagine a bike tyre with a slight puncture. Consistency is the air needed to keep it inflated, certainty is the inner tube that needs the air, and clarity is the pressure and how it affects the riding.
You're the bellend riding the bike with a slight puncture having to pump it up every day because you can't be bothered to buy a new tube (maybe not you, but this is me, I've been doing this for over a week now).
Almost every morning, I venture out on a walk for an hour. It's more or less the same route; sometimes, I take a slightly different path if the feeling presents itself. It's usually late in the morning before I have my breakfast (just after posting this today, we'll see if it was wise to publish before my mind is cleansed).
I started going out for the daily walk when I commenced my sobriety. It began as something that mixed up my day while dealing with the whirlwind of emotions, but now, fast approaching 6 months sober, it's a part of my life that isn't being replaced lightly. Just the same consistent route, day after day, soaking up everything I see.
To some, this might seem mundane, predictable, and a waste of time. But, to me, it's a true blessing and part of my day that keeps me grounded in reality.
If we apply consistency to our content and interactions here on the platform, the correlation between consistency and decent rewards shows its face as a product of attention and trust.
Larger stakeholders acting responsibly with their votes will reward people who bring value to the platform, either from their content or interactions. This trust is built through the consistent acts that are witnessed. However, with many different faces and countless posts, this can take time as some actions can slip through the cracks.
In fact, my own voting habits have changed recently. I now look to reward people that I've grown to trust on some level and this has taken time to understand within myself.
Integrity, the lack of more often than not, is a deciding factor in my book.
Do we get it wrong sometimes? Of course.
Many of us are still in relatively new territory here; complex behaviour patterns and perspectives are present. Just remain consistent and check yourself from time to time.
Provide clarity and certainty through your consistency.
