Existen ciertas realidades que deberían hacer más ruido de lo que consideramos como normal, y más cuando se trata de una realidad en la que muchos parecen estar sumergidos y sin ningún sentido de reacción. En una era donde tienes las herramientas necesarias para llevar a cabo tus propios planes de trabajo no es justificable el hecho de poder limitarte solo al mínimo esfuerzo que solo favorece a un pequeño grupo mientras cierras las puertas de tu propio fundamento laboral. Si por algún tiempo estuviste estudiando con una meta clara, no hay razón para echar todo eso a la borda mientras el conformismo se hace un espacio en tu vida.
Es impresionante como hoy los comercios están llenos de muchos jóvenes, y es válido en cuanto a aprovechar la disposición que muchos pueden tener. Al ser un poco más específico, percibo como muchos de ellos están dispuestos a trabajar prácticamente toda la semana y en horarios que sobrepasan lo normal, algo que pocas veces el pago logra compensar y aún si así lo fuera creo que el problema es un poco más profundo. De pronto te ves dando gran parte de tu tiempo y tus fuerzas para algo que a la larga termina beneficiando a otros mientras de a poco se van sepultando ideas y metas que apunten hacia un emprendimiento propio.
There are certain realities that should be making more noise than we consider normal—especially when it comes to a reality in which many seem to be immersed without any sense of how to respond. In an era where you have the tools needed to carry out your own work plans, it’s unjustifiable to limit yourself to only the bare minimum of effort—which benefits only a small group—while closing the doors to your own professional foundation. If you spent time studying with a clear goal in mind, there’s no reason to throw all that away while complacency takes root in your life.
It’s striking how stores today are filled with so many young people, and it makes sense to take advantage of the willingness many of them may have to work. To be a bit more specific, I notice how many of them are willing to work practically the entire week and during hours that go beyond the norm—something that pay rarely manages to compensate for, and even if it did, I think the problem runs a bit deeper. Suddenly, you find yourself devoting a large part of your time and energy to something that, in the long run, ends up benefiting others, while the ideas and goals that point toward starting your own business are gradually buried.
Estamos claros que por un tiempo el poder alcanzar un trabajo en una empresa era como una especie de seguro de vida que muchos buscaban, pero en Venezuela eso ya pasó a otro plano, por lo que he sabido que algunas personas aún con cargos en empresas de igual forma deben buscar segundas y terceras opciones para poder afrontar de mejor forma la crisis económicas. Conozco a muchos que incluso han decidido dejar de trabajar en empresas porque les ha ido mejor con sus negocios propios, algo que para ciertas personas puede ser un reto o un acto de fe que no todos desean dar. ¿Conformismo, o resignación? Pienso que en ambos casos el obstáculo hacia un emprendimiento suele ser bastante grande.
¿Queremos ser artífices de nuestro propio trabajo o convertirnos en la materia prima de alguien más? Esta es una pregunta que deberíamos considerar en frío. Entender hacia donde queremos proyectar nuestro emprendimiento y el rol que deseamos asumir. Analizar las ventajas puede ser un incentivo que nos permita dar ese paso al frente y darnos la oportunidad de no quedarnos en suposiciones sino de plasmar nuestras ideas en acciones. Hoy en día son muchos los campos de trabajo en los que hay cabida para más emprendimientos, ideas frescas y nuevas que le den un mejor matiz a la actividad laboral, y aunque la experiencia es vital, también la juventud es un factor para darle una especie de realce a cualquier economía y sistema productivo.
We understand that, for a time, landing a job at a company was like a form of life insurance that many sought, but in Venezuela that has now taken a back seat. From what I’ve heard, even some people who still hold positions at companies must seek out second and third options to better cope with the economic crisis. I know many who have even decided to stop working for companies because they’ve fared better with their own businesses—something that, for some people, can be a challenge or a leap of faith that not everyone is willing to take. Is it conformity or resignation? I think that in both cases, the obstacle to starting a business tends to be quite significant.
Do we want to be the architects of our own work or become someone else’s raw material? This is a question we should consider objectively. We need to understand where we want to take our venture and the role we wish to assume. Analyzing the advantages can serve as an incentive that allows us to take that step forward and gives us the opportunity to move beyond mere assumptions and turn our ideas into action. Today, there are many fields of work where there is room for more startups and fresh, new ideas that can bring a new dimension to the workplace. And while experience is vital, youth is also a factor that can invigorate any economy and productive system.
Me gustaría salir a la calle y ver a esos jóvenes pero con una disposición y una actitud emprendedora, como esa que alguna vez sentimos y en donde queremos comernos el mundo a como dé lugar. Sin desmeritar ningún trabajo u oficio, muchas personas no están conscientes del potencial que llevan consigo y cuánto pueden aportar si se atreven a seguir esos planes y esos sueños que en algún momento eran un norte claro pero que por desgracia la misma situación económica los ha llevado a abandonar. Cuando el potencial y la juventud van de la mano hacia un buen propósito, cosas maravillosas pueden tomar forma y un sinfín de oportunidades pueden surgir en forma de una economía que nos beneficie de manera general.
I’d like to go out on the street and see those young people with an entrepreneurial spirit and attitude—the kind we once felt, when we wanted to take on the world no matter what. Without disparaging any job or trade, many people aren’t aware of the potential they possess and how much they can contribute if they dare to pursue those plans and dreams that were once a clear guiding light but that, unfortunately, their economic circumstances have forced them to abandon. When potential and youth come together for a good cause, wonderful things can take shape, and endless opportunities can arise in the form of an economy that benefits us all.
