Climbing up to "La Esperanza".

This is one of those invitations that suddenly come to you, and without knowing how or when you simply answer: "Yes, ok, I think it's great! I think that in this way the trip starts to be very interesting because you don't know the place, and although some may give you a reference, the truth is that the uncertainty becomes more intense as the time to leave approaches. It is a place called "La Esperanza", a natural space within the valleys of Aragua state here in Venezuela, an area that abounds with peace and a subtle and special attention to all the nature that surrounds it.

It is not so far away from the city, but it still seems to be a small town isolated from everything else. To get there, you have to go up a somewhat narrow and irregular road, which although it gives you a beautiful panorama, it also offers a risky area that in most of the stretch does not even allow you to get out of the vehicle. If you have ever had the opportunity to go to La Colonia Tovar or Choroní beach here in Venezuela, you will know what I mean about the road.

Esta es una de esas invitaciones de las que de repente llegan a ti, y sin saber cómo ni cuándo simplemente respondes: ¡Si, ok! ¡Me parece muy bien! Creo que de esta forma ya el viaje empieza a ser muy interesante pues no conoces el lugar, y aunque algunos puedan darte una referencia, lo cierto es que la incertidumbre se vuelve más intensa a medida que se acerca el momento de salir. Es un lugar llamado "La esperanza", un espacio natural dentro de los valles del estado Aragua aquí en Venezuela, una zona en la que abunda mucha paz y una sutil y especial atención con toda la naturaleza que lo rodea.

No es un lugar tan alejado de la ciudad, pero aún así parece ser un pequeño pueblo aislado de todo lo demás. Para llegar hasta allá, hay que subir por una carretera algo estrecha e irregular, que si bien te brinda un hermoso panorama también ofrece un área de riesgo que en la mayoría del tramo no te permite siquiera poder bajar del vehículo. Si alguna vez has tenido la oportunidad de ir a La Colonia Tovar o a la playa de Choroní aquí en Venezuela, sabrás a qué me refiero con respecto a la carretera.

Since it is a slightly elevated area, we decided to go up in the car to one of the highest parts called "La horqueta". The first thing you feel when you are there is the mild and cold weather, with a breeze that seems to rock the whole place. From the first moment you start your tour, you encounter a variety of trees and flowers, animals that walk freely and quietly without fear of any threat or danger. Much of the place is surrounded by many crops that become the main livelihood of the people who live there. The water supply is extremely abundant due to the springs located in the high part of the mountain, part of difficult access due to the climatic conditions that for these months of the year is usually colder than usual.

Dado que es una zona un poco elevada, decidimos subir en el carro hasta una de las partes más alta llamada "La horqueta". Lo primero que sientes al estar allí es el clima suave y frío, con una brisa que parece mecer todo el lugar. Desde el primer momento en el que empiezas tu recorrido, te encuentras con una variedad de árboles y flores, animales que andan de manera libre y tranquila sin temor a ninguna amenaza o peligro. Gran parte del lugar está rodeado de muchos sembradíos que se convierten en el sustento principal de las personas que habitan allí. El suministro de agua es sumamente abundante debido a los manantiales ubicados en la parte alta de la montaña, parte de difícil acceso por las condiciones climáticas que para estos meses del año suele ser más fría de lo habitual.

A very particular anecdote occurred when in a certain stretch of the route one of our friends who was ahead told us: "Did you see the snake that is asleep?" 🤯😱🤔 At times I thought it was a joke, but when we went back a little on the road we found such a surprise. A huge snake that among the bushes was practically asleep, motionless, but with only its large size caused quite a lot of tension. For a moment I thought it was dead, but before the noise of those present it moved, looked at us and hid a little more to continue sleeping 🤫🥱😴.

The funniest thing of all was that near the place where the snake was there was a gentleman who was cleaning a coffee plantation. When we saw him, we told him: "Hey! Be careful with the snake over there" But we were more surprised by the response of that hardworking man, who kindly thanked us for the warning even though he already knew about the presence of that animal. "You see that here every day" was the natural and calm answer this person gave us.

Una anécdota muy particular ocurrió cuando en cierto tramo del recorrido una de nuestras amigas que iba adelante nos dijo: "¿Vieron la culebra que está dormida?" 🤯😱🤔 Por momentos pensé que se trataba de una broma, pero al regresar un poco en el camino nos encontramos con esa semejante sorpresa. Una enorme culebra que entre los matorrales estaba prácticamente dormida, inmóvil, pero que con solo su gran tamaño causaba bastante tensión. Por un momento pensé que estaba muerta, pero ante la bulla de los presentes en un momento se movió, nos miró y se escondió un poco más para seguir durmiendo 🤫🥱😴

Lo más chistoso de todo era que cerca del lugar donde estaba la culebra había un señor que estaba limpiando una siembra de café. Cuando lo vimos, le dijimos: "¡Hey! Tenga cuidado con la culebra que está allá" Pero más nos sorprendió la respuesta de aquel hombre trabajador, quien amablemente agradeció la advertencia aunque ya él sabía de la presencia de aquel animal. "Eso se ve aquí todos los días" fue la respuesta natural y tranquila que nos dio esta persona.

Among the most abundant fruits here are mango, pumalaca, mamon and guama. There is also an abundance of bananas, plantains and avocados. Unfortunately for these months most of them are beginning their loading stage, which deprived us a little of being able to taste the fruit of this beautiful land. I think that the condition and geographical position of this place is quite profitable, since according to those who live here say that whatever they sow is given in abundance and of good quality.

If I had to describe this place, I would highlight that country atmosphere that combines with a soft and cold breeze that does not seem to stop at any time of the day. At times the only sound is the birds singing and the branches of the trees shaking in the wind. Everywhere you stop and look around you see how the green of the vegetation blends with the blue of the sky. Even this pleasant atmosphere is perceived in the hospitality of the people who, upon seeing the presence of visitors, do not hesitate to invite you in, offer you a cup of coffee and share what so far is their life experience in this place.

Entre las frutas que más abundan aquí están el mango, la pumalaca, el mamón y la guama. También se da en abundancia el cambur, el plátano y el aguacate. Lamentablemente para estos meses la mayoría están iniciando su etapa de carga, lo cual nos privó un poco de poder probar el fruto de esta hermosa tierra. Pienso que la condición y posición geográfica de este lugar es bastante provechoso, ya que según los que viven aquí dicen que cualquier cosa que siembran se da en abundancia y de buena calidad.

Si tuviera que describir este lugar, destacaría ese ambiente campestre que se combina con una brisa suave y fría que no parece parar en ningún momento del día. Por momentos el único sonido es el canto de las aves y las ramas de los árboles agitados por el viento. En cualquier parte te detienes y al mirar a tu alrededor ves como se mezcla el verde de la vegetación con el azul del cielo. Incluso este ambiente agradable se percibe en la hospitalidad de las personas que al ver la presencia de los visitantes no dudan en invitarte a pasar, ofrecerte una taza de café y compartir lo que hasta ahora es su experiencia de vida en este lugar.

La Esperanza is a small and comfortable home that seems to have more than you think: beautiful landscapes, trees, fruits and flowers that embellish the place, domestic and not so domestic animals (like the snake 🙈) and a quite pleasant climate that is always a little bit above fresh. You breathe a pure and different air, the one that takes you to the ideal place to get away from stress and busyness, leaving more space for enjoyment and meditation.

Among many of us there were shared opinions about this place. Some see it as the ideal place to disconnect from the urban rhythm, while others see it as a very lonely and isolated area. In my case I see it as an excellent option to vacation and connect with nature. It is said that there are mornings so cold that you can run in the mist, and there are nights with starry skies with excellent atmosphere for camping in front of a campfire. Upon returning home, I am left with that pleasant feeling of wanting to go back and be there, enjoying a new adventure and adding experiences that mark a special part of my life.

La esperanza es un hogar pequeño y cómodo que parece tener más de lo que crees: paisajes hermosos, árboles, frutas y flores que embellen el lugar, animales domésticos y no tan domésticos (como la culebra 🙈) y un clima bastante agradable que siempre está un poquito por encima de lo fresco. Se respira un aire puro y diferente, ese que te traslada al sitio ideal para apartarte un poco del estrés y las ocupaciones, dejando más espacio para el disfrute y la meditación.

Entre muchos de nosotros hubieron opiniones compartidas sobre este lugar. Algunos lo ven como el sitio ideal para desconectarte del ritmo urbano, mientras que otros lo ven como una zona muy solitaria y aislada. En mi caso lo veo como una excelente opción para vacacionar y conectar con la naturaleza. Se dice que hay mañanas tan frías que puedes correr en medio de la neblina, y hay noches con cielos muy estrellados con excelente ambiente para acampar frente a una fogata. Al regresar a casa, me queda esa grata sensación de querer volver y estar allí, disfrutando de una nueva aventura y sumando experiencias que marcan un tramo especial de mi vida.
