I'm not much of a sports photographer, skill-wise, besides a stint of a couple summers when I shot for the Kelowna Gymkhana Club. I actually really enjoy shooting sports if I have the right gear for it. There's no point if I don't.
Anyway, here's a shot of @mstafford that I really love. It's not a crazy, breathtaking sports photo, that's for sure, but I really like it.
You see, we have a tradition of going to the BC interior (Kelowna, specifically) for the Thanksgiving long weekend (Oct 10th ish usually up here) for Thanksgiving dins with my folks and to run the local BMO Marathon. This particular year, Mark and John ran the full marathon. Not the half, not the 10k, the full! I was so proud of them! That's one reason why I love this photo.
Another is the light. It's beautiful Okanagan autumn light and it's so lush. I love how it glows. And, Marky looks calm and cool and his form is great and his hair is glowing :D and I managed to catch him in mid-air which is always fun, and that smirk is the best.
It was such a beautiful day! Race day somehow always comes through with some sunshine!
