THE PERSON YOU BECOME WHEN NOBODY IS WATCHING

Monthly Employee Engagement Session
Recently, this theme came up during one of our employee engagement sessions. I was preparing for the meeting when an employee from the factory called through the intercom and asked my colleague if I was around since they hadn’t seen me at the factory that day.
When the caller hung up, my colleague told me about the remarks, and I smiled. During break time, I went to the reception area, and they made the same remarks. I smiled again and responded. I restricted myself to my zone because my boss was around. If he weren't around, I would have been walking tirelessly to ensure that things were in order.
The moral of that little story is that anytime my boss is not around, I tend to be everywhere, planning, organising, supervising, and controlling. That period tends to be my peak because things must not go wrong in the office and factories. I must follow up on every piece of data and detail to the letter.
On the other hand, most employees tend to pay lip service and eye service. They show their real rascality when nobody is watching, but if the boss is around, they show signs of being hardworking while doing eye service up and down. This aspect of living is wrong.
However, this does not mean I am perfect; No, I am human. Sometimes, I do things my own way, cutting corners to get them done, but I ensure that they are not things I won’t be proud of. Even if I mistakenly dabble in wrong actions, I quickly retrace my steps and find my rhythm again on the right course because such things can lead to a guilty conscience.

So if my private actions were displayed publicly, honestly, I am a human bound to make mistakes, commit errors, and be a fallible human being; it will be a mixture of the good and sometimes the bad, and a sprinkle of some ugly actions common to mankind.
In the end, I will be proud that I failed several times and rose several times, never giving up on myself or claiming to be infallible, but learning the lessons there with and moving forward to a better version of my yesterday.
