My Hive Story-Why Consistency Matters More Than Motivation

WHY CONSISTENCY MATTERS MORE THAN MOTIVATION

Hello #Scifimultiverse, I trust you are doing great. Happy midweek. When I took a second look at this topic, it took me down memory lane to my Hive experience so far. The challenges, struggles, ups, downs, little wins here and there, the motivation, and then the recent consistency syndrome.

Consistency means performing certain actions regularly without stopping, while motivation means the reason behind someone’s desire to continue doing something. Simply put, motivation spurs the interest to act, while consistency develops the action to result. One goal I need to be more consistent with is blogging. Making quality posts consistently.

I onboarded to Hive around June 2025 and was told the do’s, don’ts, and what the path to success looks like on the Hive blockchain. One thing they hammered into my ear was “consistency” in posting, commenting, and general interaction, especially if I want steady growth.

Boom, inflation happened, and Hive price dropped drastically. Meanwhile, my main goal in joining Hive was to build a sustainable online passive income stream and develop my skills in blockchain networking technology. At that point, some users started staying aloof, selling off tokens, and others dropped in their activity. I paused, thought deeply about the issue, and reached out to my mentor, who advised again, “remain consistent.”

However, things took another turn: HBD was removed as a reward token from posts, and some users had plagiarism issues, which led to a second phase of exits within my circle. My posts were not visible enough to attract curation or upvotes. It was like an uncertain journey. A lot of doubts and thoughts of giving up crept in. To make it worse, by the time I started seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel, I was scammed, and the little resources I had were swooped up.

At that point, I was at my lowest point. I wanted to give up, but some kind people from different communities motivated me with thoughtful messages; others rolled out Hives in their numbers and encouraged me to keep being consistent. I also started receiving good counsel and acting on it. I bounced back not long and resolved not to look back. I have remained consistent in my favorite communities.

The quality of my posts has also improved because of the consistency, resulting in more interaction and connection with others. However, to fulfill my blogging goal on Hive, I need to post regularly, engage, and relate with other bloggers. This is why consistency matters more; if I get motivated without taking action, nothing happens.

Since I am writing about my Hive experience, things that demotivate me include the lack of visibility of my posts and the current price of Hive. However, despite the challenges, motivation from my friends with years of experience on the blockchain, focusing on my goals, and my little wins here and there keep spurring me to take action time and again.

Ever since I became consistent, I have made reasonable improvements. Though I am not yet where I want to be, I am better than who I used to be on the Hive blockchain.
