Motivation feels nice; it gives us this confidence that we can accomplish anything. We wake up so happy, setting goals, making plans, and keeping ourselves going. We keep telling ourselves that we are going to do something different.

In a few moments' time that zeal, excitement, and motivation will disappear; you become so tired, life becomes so busy, the inspiration disappears, and the goal that keeps us pushing it becomes so easy to ignore.

For me, consistency matters more than motivation. One truth about motivation is it will help you start, but consistency is the only thing that will help you to continue.

For instance, someone who wants to exercise the will feels motivated and spends hours working out. But if they didn’t exercise again until they felt motivated, you would see them struggling to make progress. Someone else maybe feels excited about exercising, but they are so committed and do it regularly.

There are days that motivate you and will fail you. You will feel so tired and discouraged; there will be times we will question ourselves whether our effort is making a difference. Consistency is the only thing that keeps us pushing. That doesn’t mean we have to be perfect; being consistent doesn’t mean you will do everything perfectly every single day. It is all about keeping pushing and making effort.

Consistency is very important; it has helped people build their reputation. For instance, if you want to save money, it may be very hard for you to save something huge, but consistently putting something into your savings will make a huge difference.

There is always a big problem when someone always relies on motivation. Motivation deals with our emotions, and our emotions change. You can wake up so bold and energetic in a few minutes' time; your mood can change. You want to be in bed and forget that you have responsibilities. But when you are consistent, you don’t need to depend on your feelings. We may feel like
