The Funniest Thing I Believed as a Kid

Hello #Suseona friends, I trust your day is going well. Life is a learning space; once an individual stops learning, they start dying. I have heard and read some funny things we were told when we were very young, and how some of them were found to be false narratives.

Growing up, my aunty told me that whenever I see the flying star speeds through the sky, I should quickly shout luck. If I'm able to do that seven times before the star disappears, people will favour me, and a lot of good things will happen to me.

Apparently, I grew up with this notion as a kid, and each time I keep looking forward to seeing this star in the sky. I nursed and carried that ambition all through my life.

As time goes by and we mature, I began to take that statement seriously. Intentionally, I have been able to rush the words several times I sight that speeding star. However, I don't see the resultant favour or goodwill from people. At some point, I became frustrated, so I began seeking for answers myself.

I met my mum and some elderly people who were also confused about my claims. Each time, they would ask me who told me that.
On the other hand, some of them would say that it was just a narrative nobody has ever proved.

At that juncture, I began to rethink this narrative and extended my search to other people in my church and neighbourhood. One day, while I was with my eldest sister outside the house, the flying star zoomed off from nowhere, and boom, I followed up with shouts of luck, luck seven times. My sister keenly watched me with her mouth open.

Because I followed the star to a distance, I returned happily that I had made it successfully once again. Returning to my earlier seat, she asked me the problem with me, and I told her my aunty's narrative earlier.

She smiled and said that I was wasting my time being lazy instead of looking for something to do to make money. I was not happy about that, so I went inside and confronted my aunty, who confirmed that she too had heard the story and passed it to the younger generation. At that point, it became clear that I was chasing vague success.
I turned 360 degrees and happily cancelled that fallacy.
