Good Things for Good People

Hello dear Black and White community,
Street Documentary — Lima

Close-up shots are always a challenge: getting closer, cropping tighter, sometimes feeling like you’re invading someone’s space. I remember when I first started street photography; embarrassment and fear were my biggest enemies. Over time I left landscapes behind and fell in love with capturing real, raw moments.

I live in a city that never stops, that suffers and slowly bleeds. It may sound exaggerated to some, but here people struggle every single day. Maybe that’s why I’m hooked: I feel my photos carry the weight of everyday life. When I review my portraits, no one smiles. Most look tired, distant, irritated. They’re exhausted… and so am I.

I work a job that doesn’t fulfill me, earn just enough to get by, and still chase a dream: photography. I walk the same streets, the camera guy, capturing life, pain and perseverance.

To everyone passing through, I leave my best energy.
As a friend once told me in Cusco: Good things for good people.

Buenas Cosas para Buenas Personas

Los primeros planos siempre han sido un reto: acercarte, recortar la escena, a veces sentirte invasivo. Recuerdo cuando empecé en fotografía de calle; la vergüenza y el miedo eran mis peores enemigos. Con el tiempo dejé la comodidad de los paisajes y me enamoré de capturar momentos reales, crudos, sin máscara.

Vivo en una ciudad que no se detiene, que sufre y sangra a diario. Puede sonar exagerado para algunos, pero aquí la gente la pasa mal. Y quizá por eso me enganché: siento que mis fotos respiran ese peso del día a día. Cuando reviso mis retratos, nadie sonríe. La mayoría está pensativa, cansada, molesta. Están agotados… y yo también.

Trabajo en algo que no me llena, gano lo justo para sobrevivir, y aún así persigo un sueño: la fotografía. Camino las mismas calles, soy “el chico de la cámara”, retratando vida, dolor y resistencia.

A todos los que pasan por aquí, les dejo mis mejores vibras.
