My Uncle Ronald owns a lakehouse out in Polk County. It is called "Crooked Lake", and it is a pretty big lake. He bought the house and property when I was about 8-10 years old, and he made sure to allow my brother @coinexchange and I to go fishing out there as much as possible.
I have a lot of great memories fishing with my brother, my uncle, and my aunt out on Crooked Lake.
We have this ongoing joke with these 2 statues:
Since they never move, and always sit there with a fishing pole in their hand, we always like to say that we have never seen a pair so committed to fishing. With all of the practice they've had, I have still never seen them pull in an actual fish!
My Uncle had a great sense of humor, and this was one of the jokes that we heard at least a couple of times per year. While I was on a trip for my honeymoon a few months ago, I actually came across one of these exact same statues. My Uncle had always said that he wanted one so I sent him a picture and told him that I had found one for sale in an antique shop. He had a pretty good laugh about it, but he didn't want me to buy it. I suppose the 2 that always sit in their normal spot on the dock will do it for him.
To the moon,
