So hello again it is I butops
So you might be wondering how did I even discover splinterlands in the first place well its a rather long story long before the beginnings of splinterlands ever was
So with that said sit back relax and read this long long part of my history
Well for starters I started way on my first hive game cryptobrewmaster trust me look it up its there that was my first account didnt know much about crypto back then and all I made in that game was one bottle of aged ale then I forgot about it
Then I was reintroduced to the hive blockchain when it was the age of the cryptocasinos really didnt have any money back then but my account was still there kinda since i forgot my username and password.
Fast forward to 2020 I got hooked on a blockchain plants vs zombies ripoff which i made my first 200 bucks down the rugpull hole well at least i made money right?
Months pass I bought a mini PC paid some bills with the money I made and lo and behold I saw an ad on facebook for splinterlands.
I had actually hardly any cash left
so I bought a bed and my last 10 bucks I invested on a spellbook
Didnt actually know splinterlands that much back then i began right before the mid end of the untamed series much to my surprise and of course the only course of playing the game was through renting the meta back then was kron and boy did kron dominate the leagues
Before the untamed series ended i got at least 2 cards from the rewards one of them was these guys
did I say 2 I meant 8 well that was the last time I played splinterlands for now
3 months pass I restarted playing back near the end of 2021
just as they locked out players from making any DEC man was that a pain well not as much as not having any cards
my first year in the game was brutal no cards whatsoever its was the boom of the 50k btc rage where everycard was at least the price of your kidneys well I am exaggerating kinda oshanus back then cost like 20 bucks a pop on regular and 200 bucks on gold
it was also the time where boredom due the pandemic was building all you had for entertainment was twitch thats when streamers for the game came in left and right was primarily what you call in the community as a card beggar
no joke my bronze deck was the result of staying on streamers streams hoping I might be given a card not really hoping for a leg but the commons yeah they bought my deck to life that way
I'm also what you might see as a semi vet in this game been here for almost 4 years playing every single day on the clock I mean seriously what else can you do in the pandemic besides watching nothing to grow right?
On to 2021 splinterlandstv started was one of the pioneers in the chat no one beats me in points I started with the usual banter with the streamers winning some games and steadily but surely increasing the size of my deck by miniscule cards at a time I actually had no summoner on my deck by that time and thats where it hit me maybe I should be a streamer
So On may 29 2021 I started my twitch channel as a streamer butopstv(butops18 formerly) it was hard , I didnt even know how to stream nor know how twitch works as a streaming platform I started my streams on splinterlands most of which lasts for at least 10 maybe 12 hours per day
my specialty being the last minute grinds oh and I had the opportunity to be recommended as one of the streaming crew for splinterlandstv.
I started in september on a tuesday I mean all I had was a deck filled with rented cards no summoners and whatnot not even a single legendary yet I managed to make my grinds fun and also worthwhile
Didnt actually spent a dime on increasing my deck I went by luck sometimes i get dropped some packs on my grinds and since joining the SPLTV crew I earned packs to increase my deck even faster.
What Have I accomplished exactly during my time playing splinterlands? Well for starters a total noob like me actually made it to diamond without any good cards went to diamond III as my highest that time then I managed to get to diaMONd II on a silver deck nonetheless.
For cards I might say my highest achievement was getting that gold foil jared scar it was a card that was my pride and joy but had to sell to buy rebellion packs which was rather sad but if it makes my deck stronger then its a sacrifice i would take for the better I still had the regular one at the same level.
As of now from A mere 10$ deck worth of commons to a 800$(as of today's prices)deck worth of powerful cards at my arsenal
an accomplishment done through hard work fair trades and lucky finds I also have 3 common lands that I cultivate grain on 2 of which are still not operational because of both dec, grain and card insufficiency well will get those running eventually as long as I focus on the goal at hand
My new goal for this year is to join tourneys win some SPS and make it to 100k sps
As for the beginners out there theres only a couple of advice I can share
- make sure to at least ask the splinterlands community if they are looking for scholars, It is the best way to begin the journey without spending a dime also if you save fast enough you can begin actually buying your own spellbook to start the game with
2.Join the giveaways....sure I know you might not be lucky to get yourself a win on those kinds of things but you might be lucky and get yourself a pack to start the game with anyway
3.Get to the nearest guild near you....hey the faster you get to guilding the faster it is to save merits to buy gladius packs I mean just a gold card out of those can net you some cash to spend for your own assets in the game when you burn gold gladius cards right?
and lastly number 4.
If you begin in bronze just have fun and not get frustrated at getting losses everybody loses a lot but as long as you are determined you get used to it also it pays better to be in bronze when you are just starting.
