No, this is not AI slop. Hear me out. I came home from work today to find my wife baking. I didn't think much of it and asked what she was making. She told me she was using a copycat recipe for Kneaders' Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk cookies. That sounded good to me. Who wouldn't want those, right?
The smell is fantastic. Finally, a batch comes out of the oven. I hate waiting, but bide my time while they cool a little.
Finally, it's time to eat one. I crack it open. It looks good.
I take a bite. It's fantastic! It's cruncy and chewy. It's salty and has a great nutty flavor! The chocolate chips are gooey and just the right amount of sweetness. It's been a while since I've had a cookie this good. I ask her where she found the recipe and she tells me, "I had AI make it."
Yes, you read that right. She used Google Gemini and asked it to create a copycat recipe for her. It scoured the internet, found multiple similar recipes, collected feedback from the comments and aggregated all of that into a working recipe that tastes good.
I know it's nothing earth-shattering, but AI gets so many things wrong these days you almost expect it to completely butcher a recipe for cookies. AI may not be replacing our jobs anytime soon, but it looks like it'll be expanding my waistline.
