Do you think, that maybe, just maybe, it might be time to stop complying?

If you go back a century, it was spare the rod, spoil the child. Using fear to keep people in line.
Fear of real consequences is a good thing.
But fear of insane and unjust laws is not.

Soooo, is it the stick (as opposed to the carrot) that is bad? Or is it the person using the stick has gone insane?
