Very much my idea.

The stitching together is almost as important as getting people set up in garages to build parts.
And block chain is turning out to be that tool.
We are seeing blockchain being used for part distribution already.

Imagine having your own green, continuous energy device, and instead of having a bank of resistors, you put in a wall of antminers.

(in order to spool up an electrical generator, you need to have a load and the load needs to be manageable and fairly well known. And, if everyone turned off their lights all at once, you need to have a resistive load you can switch in almost immediately.)
