I like the idea of decentralized manufacturing. I can see a blockchain based app that stitches it all together. Customers can post orders of what they want/need then different manufacturers could bid on the jobs (or vice versa). This concept echoes back to Victorian times when families would do piecework in their homes for large manufacturers only the individuals will have much more power in this modern adaptation of this idea.

I see something similar happening with the power grid. Lots of smaller, decentralized substations feeding into the grid, even residential homes could play a part with wind/solar.

There really is no other sustainable future that I can imagine except having almost everything decentralized.
