And this really isn't Capitalism... or maybe it is the normal outcome of capitalism.

Planned obsolescence should never have been an acceptable thing... but it was because economies of scale made it so much cheaper for those who built the factories based on planned obsolescence. And that group being a monopoly that could never be competed with.

Buy the $10 toaster from wallymart?
or
Buy the clunky, heavy, built to last toaster from a guy who put way to much work into it for $100?

You can buy "furniture" from Ikea.
If you want me to build a custom cabinet, my wood cost is more than that. Hardware and my time not included.
