I wish i could give, straight forward and sincere advice, like "go to school, get a good job…" Ok, not like that, that advice is already out of date, and most people are recognizing it.
I also wish i could say something that was not just plain obvious, like, if you live next to a river, watch out for flooding, or if you live in the north, watch out for snow storms.
What i will say is things to keep you alive. Like, have a month of food stored. You are REALLY going to need it.
What we are facing is the ending of an old epoch, and the beginning of a new.
All of the old structures based on fear, greed, control… are going to fall down. Like the mortar suddenly failing in a brick building. Like the foundation turning to mud. Those who really want the old systems to stay, will not even be able to rebuild them. Banks that take and take, and control everything through the money supply will just fall down.
Even the weather patterns that we have come to think of as normal, will be going away. So, we will have to rebuild agriculture, while bridges and banking fall down. We will all have to learn to farm, including CEOs of Fortune 500, especially them, because those corporations will become hollow shells and their money won't be worth anything.
The mini-ice-age cold-part is upon us
Weather pattern changes
Earth changes
Many times, a hurricane, or something whips through the town, and after, people are using what little fuel that is in their car to drive around to find an open gas station to go to work.
Currently, we wait for the snow storm to end, and then have the electrical crews go out and repair snapped wires. But, what do you do when there is no end to the snow storm? It is not a few days, nor a week. It is a month. You have to survive a month. Or, maybe we need develop an electrical repair crew that can work in a blizzard. Heated suits, radar to see, Some kind of walker that can walk through drifts easily… nah, we should be using what little time we have left to bury the electric lines underground.
Get your house up in energy efficiency. Try weird things like building a shed around your house. It is no longer good enough to just survive a storm, you need to live and thrive through a storm.
At least have a wood burning stove. Better, build a rocket mass heater. Do not let the govern-cement regulations keep you from innovating. If they can't get out to repair the electrical wires, they can't get out to fine you. And soon, they will have no authority.
Build for the new environment you are in.
We have mined out our soils. The days of throwing wheat into a field and having a huge harvest are over.
With chemical fertilizers, we kept taking from the soil without returning anything. And now, when the shorter, more brutal summers come, we won't get a harvest.
Our entire idea of factory farms and supermarkets are over. The people in charge of that want people to be on the edge of starvation, eating a poor diet, and be easily controllable. So, even if they know the ice-age is upon us, they will be working against humanity. Finding better ways to farm is the furthest thing from their minds.
Fortunately, with permaculture and organic farming practices, we have ways of repairing the soils. With hydroponics and aquaponics you can grow food inside, all year round. With things like food forests, you can produce highly sustainable eco-systems that produce food with almost no work.
See yourself producing your own food. If you want wholesome, non-poisoned food, you will need to do it yourself.
It will become a way of life for everyone, being a half-time farmer.
Paying a local farmer with your corporate wages will only be a stop gap measure.
Everything is about to change.
Corporations that we thought would rule over us forever, will just be gone.
Countries that would be at each other's throats forever, will suddenly work things out.
Grocery stores, who have provided food all our lives, will just stop existing.
Banks will disappear. Wall Street will be a ghost town.
The biggest problem of staying alive will be how fast you can assimilate to the new paradigm.
Everything is going to change. And then it is going to change again.
To give an example of how weird this will be:
The capital of America (not The US) will be moved to the mid-west. Probably a burb of Chicago.
The UN building will be up for sale. NATO will be gone.
North and South Korea will get back together.
