She passed all of her Tests and today has been deployed into the Silver Gold Stackers Discord. It’s only been a couple of days since I announced that Precious Does Discord and the Code is pretty fresh so there might still be a few quirks to iron out. She is running on the same Virtual Private Server as the other processes running for SGS and I upgraded the VPS environment too so if anyone notices anything weird at all with ANY of the other processes running there then please let me know. For now though Precious the Discord Bot is alive and she looks good!
As mentioned in the previous post, the 2 main functions that I wanted to get LIVE were the /raffle and the /status ones so that we could conduct our raffles and help our members with their understanding and usage of the curation project. However I was able to squeeze in a 3rd function that a couple of members had requested. That is /spot – which returns the Spot Price of Gold and Silver.
This information is coming free from a site called metalpriceapi.com but there are some limitations. The first is that the information could be Up to 1 Hour Delayed so it might not be that reliable when the markets are making BIG and SUDDEN moves. The 2nd limitation is that the free API access is limited to 100 calls per month. That’s about 3 calls a day and to be honest I think that’s probably going to cover our needs long term, but we might smash that limit on our first month as no doubt our members will want to have a play with it. I’ve also racked up a few calls to the API already while doing the Development and Testing of this function.
