Time flies when you’re having fun, right? Well, I wish I could say that it’s all been fun but the truth is that there’s been a lot of ups and downs here on the HIVE blockchain (and crypto more broadly) since I showed up here as a fresh faced newbie. Even so, a couple of days ago I passed the 4 year mark and while I don’t normally celebrate personal milestones it feels like it might be a good time to do just that and maybe reflect a bit.
When I first came to this blockchain I arrived with a solid technology background and was already convinced on the promise of how crypto could transform our world. I was looking for that fast, cheap and stable cryptocurrency that could drive mainstream adoption and for a while there I thought I’d found it in this blockchains stablecoin. While digging around here I got involved with a couple of communities (which are still chugging along in some form or another) and before I knew it I was hooked in. Unwittingly, or perhaps consciously – I had joined the revolution.
Even though the Crypto Winter of 2018 and 2019 was quite brutal and we lost a lot of people with a lot of shenanigans going on over the years, I always hoped that things would eventually turn out. Even though there have been a couple of times when I felt ready to walk away, I now know that what I was feeling at those times was burnout, even despair that a blockchain that held such promise and opportunity was being mismanaged and squandered…..but I no longer feel that way.
In recent times a lot of good things have happened. Good things which I believe have not yet yielded fruit, but I have been seeing things moving in the right direction for a while now. So much so that I started investing heavily once again into this blockchain about a year ago. A short time ago I reached 200,000 Hive Power, which was a power-up target for me and while trying not to come across as boastful – it’s been another milestone for me that’s been worth celebrating.
I now believe that I, and many others here, are well positioned for this HIVE blockchain to start realizing its potential. There is no guarantee that it will of course, but I’m in a place now where I am comfortable with my investment. I can honestly say that I’m involved in something that I genuinely believe in and so if HIVE goes to zero from here then so be it. The truth is that we could be just about to plunge into another horrible Crypto Winter but we are just as likely to be on the cusp of a moonshot. To me that’s an Asymmetrical Risk proposition and I’ll take those odds any day of the week so CHEERS!
HIVE ON!
