The bright white ball in sky had just started ascending that night as Tobi drove through the narrow street his tires making a squashing sounding against the storny road, he drove like he was carrying raw eggs not because he wanted to be careful but because he wanted to spend more time with Amaka.
The sumptuous combination of fried rice and chicken mixed with the constant humming of pure Nigerian rnb they just had wasn't enough, 'it felt short' he thought, as he turned into Amaka's street his car light catching a glimpse of the Gambiama sign, further bringing their outing to an end.
"Her birthday is next tomorrow bro" Tobi said his face lightening up with curves around his jaws,
"so what is your plan"
Collins said raising his eyes from his laptop, his attention being seized by the purported plans of his friend.
"I'm going to propose to her"
Tobi replied the curves on his face finally breaking revealing his white teeth, then he quickly retracted it,
"I need more, I want more with her" he added,
"so we're going with the rose right"
Collins said hands folded his face also lit up in a near smug. Tobi simply nodded.
The beach was filled with footprints both large and small, empty cans of soda were littered and in some way added colour to the near white clearing, evidence of the fun and party.
Amaka was standing with her friend a red plastic cup held in her hand, her hair thrown back in a slight fury as the sea breeze rushed passed them every now and then.
Tobi walked behind her the smug on his face made her smile and wondered, he whispered in her ear
"I have a suprise for you love" , she simply smiled and took his hands which where wrapped around her waist as they left the pack of drinking friends.
Few steps ahead and Amaka saw a trail of red roses leading to a table, footprints accompanied the trail back and forth as it had been carefully placed, On the table an engagement ring was placed on a red soft cushion, Amaka couldn't hide the red indentations that quickly appeared on her face as Tobi went on one knee, she simply covered her face, while nodding,
the she removed her hand and let out a " Yes" filled with air.
They returned arms lock with each other, after some minutes to the fold with everyone clapping as they had been told what was going on by Collins, he couldn't keep it to himself.
