I got to see a dollar note in 2008. I was just starting highschool then. It was a gift from my Uncle. I still laugh sometimes at my awkwardness, how I flipped the note, observing every detail about it. It was a very valuable possession for me then. It took a lot of convincing for me to give to my dad so he could exchange it for Naira.
Now, well I don't think I'll be moved by a dollar anymore but 1000USD that's another thing entirely. In my country Nigeria, 1USD is approximately 590 Naira according to recent exchange rates, that is 590,000 Naira for 1000USD, so it is huge. If I'm being paid 1000USD monthly, well let me cut the story short, my entire family be changed.
My current rent is 150,000 Naira per annum. so with my rent fully covered, the rest of the money will go into my upkeep and a small scale business. I would be able to afford the necessary things around me to keep me productive and to improve my learning.
In conclusion the value of 1000USD for me is financial freedom. That's in tandem with me achieving my dreams. I know my friend
