@whack.science and his sister have been working hard on something very special over the past week and it’s time for us to share the logo with you all here on the community account. If you’ve been hanging out on the server you might have seen the logo already but for those of you that haven’t already, here it is:

Over the course of the past month, I’ve been looking out for members of BuddyUP to represent as our core team. We’ve had a lot of activity from various members and a wide range of input and feedback from all. There is a few of you which I would have liked to get on board but due to their current circumstances to other responsibilities, I’ve had to consider other members. That is not to say they won’t have a place in the future, just right now I believe they have bigger priorities that they need to focus on without any extra pressure.
We have four roles which will need a leader to help guide and teach others to adopt these roles. Below, I will give a brief description of the role and who is going to leading that role going forward. I am extremely excited to announce this publically so you can all share your support for the members selected.
In BuddyUP, we have a role for the members who are natural teachers. Whenever we see great promise from our Tetra or Guppy roles, we will nominate the member so they can be given the role of Tadpole. The Tadpoles will receive mentorship from the Finder Frogs in the secret HEAVY CURRENT channel.
Our first ever Tadpole, 
I have to say, they were remarkable. Giving honest feedback and providing excellent assistance for their newly found Tadpole on a post that was very close to his heart. It was a joy to read the feedback inside the channel and the result was something special.
I think a duo is important for this role since mentoring is a lot about learning about yourself as well as how you teach others. They will receive full permissions to the HEAVY CURRENT channel and they’ll be able to structure it around what they think. By giving them the opportunity to share their thoughts together and structuring the HEAVY CURRENT channel around them, I believe we will achieve a phenomenal mentoring set up that will benefit our members.
Every server needs some form of moderation; we are no exception. The Swordfish role is there to monitor the channels and make sure features are running smoothly. The main category that will be watched over is the POST POOLS, this is our main spot for promotion. You can understand how important it is to keep these channels maintained properly, so the need for a consistent and active member to manage this in the early stages makes a whole lot of sense.
BuddyUP respects our freedom of speech and our voices are all appreciated when they are directed in an encouraging and engaging manner.
Hate and abuse is a different story entirely and we won’t be engaging or encouraging the behavior. It’ll be deleted and members will receive a warning about this letting them know that it’s not acceptable and that they won’t have a place here on the server if it continues. Being able to decipher this and take action in a neutral and rational manner requires a certain team of people and they have to always be open to adapt.

Last week we decided to give some more responsibility for our Mormyrid role. When it first started we had set this role as a helper. They were managing the help channel and apart from that the role was very basic and other than the maintaining of the help channel; pretty purposeless.
Whenever we notice that a member has been inactive for a while we can feel as though the community isn’t for them or that they aren’t interested in BuddyUP. Sometimes this is correct, other times it is because of a lack of personal connection. We don’t want to derank people into the Shrimp role and restrict their permissions because they are inactive. First of all, we want everyone to be involved if they get the right guidance to get started. Secondly, that just creates more work.
The Mormyrids will send messages to any members who are inactive or new to the channel in an attempt to reach out and connect with the member to try and help them get adjusted to the server by personally connecting with them. We believe this is important because sometimes people are overloaded with servers or communities and they can easily feel detached if there is a lack of connection.

Having her as the first Mormyrid who will be leading the show, I firmly believe that in time (and with the growth of this community), we can 10X her goal and her character and personality will bring that number up to 250 genuine supporters. I say this because I know her and what she is about, but I also truly believe that this role is built for her and she can find her people through this. There is nobody else that suits this role more than her and I know for a fact that she will love being a Mormyrid in BuddyUP.
We’ve hit all the main roles in BuddyUP and there is only one left. The Catfish. This is the top role in the server but it is by no means the leader. All of our roles are equally on a human level. We don’t hold any other power other than our server authorities that we have because of the maintenance of the community. Yes, the community is centralized. We are a long distance away from creating a decentralized system for BuddyUP that will allow us all the opportunity to connect genuinely without having to be led and guided by roles that have an understanding of the system. But it is the end goal.
As a Catfish, we will be managing the posts, features and ranking so that BuddyUP maintains its reputation and authenticity. We are actively working on setting up our Discord server to have automated challenges that will:
Give membership and access to the server.
Allow Tetras to rank up to Guppy by the way of challenges within the server.
Once members achieve the Guppy rank we will be manually ranking and giving members the rank of Finder or Gourami. This is to make sure there is a definite involvement between ourselves and the members who are willing to engage and encourage the community and its members.
Myself and @CoachJJ will be the first Catfish on the server and we will be writing the posts for the community account, as well as maintaining features inside the server.
I believe that having a community account that is managed by one person, totally defeats the point of a community account. At the bottom of the BuddyUP posts it will always say; ‘This was @’username’, thank you for reading.’. This will allow members to see who has written the post and will give the members a person to reply to so that the person reading can comment on their own account.

We should all have the opportunity to write for BuddyUP as it is all our community. Centralization is needed for this to grow, but we do not employ centralized principles wherever we can try not to. I hope this will allow us to move forward in a way that helps our members feel as though it is there community and not anybody from the top down.
I’m so happy to bring 
I want to delegate responsibility so that we can grow bigger and faster and I can’t do that if I don’t trust the people who hold this responsibility. In time we will see an influx of people and we will all need to adapt and change our approaches to make sure the community runs smoothly. Don’t get comfortable, don’t lose touch, keep on learning and growing and expressing yourselves sincerely like you all already do.
