I just found a place on the map again that I wanted to see "live" :-)
On Sunday morning, in a very cold (-2°C) and very foggy, I went on another small trip.
South of the town of Veselí nad Lužnicí is a system of lakes created after sand mining. However, I was interested in another place. Next to one lake there is something that can normally be seen by the sea or in the desert, but not in the middle of Europe.
It is a dune, or if you prefer a sandbank. There are more similar places in the vicinity and along the Lužnice river, but they are all overgrown with vegetation. Only at this place is the spillway artificially maintained in its original state, as it was created in ancient times, when the wind blew sand from the Lužnice river.
New sand is no longer added here, because the surrounding land is used for agricultural purposes. So that this place does not disappear, it is therefore necessary to remove artificially fallen leaves and invasive non-native vegetation.
If you ever visit southern Bohemia and have some time, you can visit this protected nature reserve. And if you are here in the summer, you can use the surrounding lakes for swimming :-)

Jen jsem zase našel na mapě místo, které jsem chtěl vidět „naživo“ :-)
V neděli ráno, za velkého chladu (-2°C) a velké mlhy, jsem se vypravil na další malý výlet.
Jižně od města Veselí nad Lužnicí je soustava jezer vzniklých po těžbě písku. Zajímalo mne však jiné místo. Vedle jednoho jezera je totiž něco, co lze běžně vidět u moře nebo na poušti ale ne uprostřed Evropy.
Je to duna, nebo chcete-li písečný přesyp. V okolí a podél řeky Lužnice je podobných míst více, ale všechna jsou zarostlá vegetací. Jen na tomto místě je přesyp uměle udržován v původním stavu, jak vznikl v dávných dobách, kdy vítr navál písek od řeky Lužnice.
Nový písek už zde nepřibývá, protože okolní půda je využívána pro zemědělské účely. Aby toto místo nezaniklo, je tedy potřeba odstraňovat uměle spadané listí a náletovou nepůvodní vegetaci.
Pokud se někdy podíváte do jižních Čech a budete mít chvíli času, můžete tuto chráněnou přírodní rezervaci navštívit. A pokud zde budete v létě, můžete využít okolní jezera ke koupání :-)
