We all remember the massive disruption and changes that first occurred in the music industry when Napster came out and music was pirated. Since then, we moved to paid downloads and are currently in a new world where streaming is the largest profit driver for record labels, nor surpassing digital downloads and physical sales.
With the technology of blockchain, Musicoin aims to fill in the gaps that the traditional streaming services have not yet addressed. This includes instant artist payment as well as the ability for fans and listeners to tip artists.
I believe this platform could totally change the music industry, but first it will need to grow and offer a user experience that rivals that of major platforms such as Spotify. With the addition of user generated playlists and a mobile app, I believe Musicoin will truly be able to dominate, as is provides a free experience for the listener and instant compensation for the artists.
