Well at least the roller coaster ride of the last month appears to have calmed down. After the mainly downward slide of crypto prices I've had about 50% of my initial investment wiped out, but not lost!
As I've decided to be a Hodler I've still got all my original coins plus a couple of extras including Ripple. I picked up 2 lots of Ripple at different price levels so at the moment I'm about even Stephen with these coins.
Probably the most frustrating thing I had happen was that Cryptopia stopped accepting NZ dollars. This happened right in the middle of the big dive so I was unable to take full advantage of the bargain prices which has left me slightly peeved. But now I have 4 exchanges so hopefully getting shut out at a crucial time won't happen again.
One of the difficulties I've had is deciding on which coins to get as there is a myriad of them. One strategy I have now decided on is to look for coins that have a low number in circulation. I have noticed that nearly all cryptos with less than 50,000,000 coins in circulation have a price in excess of 5 cents. And nearly all cryptos (Ripple is a notable exception) with a price in excess of $1 have a coin circulation of less than 100 million.
While these pointers are not a hard and fast feature, they have at least helped me focus on far less coins. And even after finding coins in these ranges there's still a lot of research to happen before I pull the trigger.
Onward and upward to the moon!
