My whole life is about teaching. I grew up in a house full of teachers. My grandfather was a teacher and principal and my mother is still a teacher. I spent most of my life at a school and it became such a part of my life that I decided to become a teacher. I am currently in my second year studying my teaching degree and I absolutely love it.
What is the reason for me to study?
When I finished school I realized at the end of my school career that school shaped me into the person that I am today. Most of the teachers I had over the years had such an impact in my life and I would not be the person I am today if it was not for them. They guided me and they helped me become the person I am today.
The people I met… The knowledge I gained, the advice I got was all thanks to the teachers, and that is where I realized that a teacher has one of the biggest impacts in someone’s life.
I realized I wanted to become a teacher, so that I can do the same. I can have an impact on someone's life, and I can help them and guide them towards a better life. I can help to build their character to become successful one day. As a teacher I can help them grow into what they want to accomplish.
I have been to three schools this year to be a student teacher and I am very excited about my future as a teacher. I get to live out my sport and one day when I am not able to play rugby anymore I would be able to coach other's like me. With teaching you have the opportunity to be creative and you don't get that in any kind of job.
Here is a list of reasons why I want to become a teacher:
- Student potential – I want to believe in greatness of a student, if they say they can't or if they say it's hard, I can teach them, I can try to make them believe, because even if they don’t believe in themselves, I shall believe.
- I can motivate them and teach them to motivate themselves and to follow their dreams. Just like I am busy chasing my dream.
- Everyday learning – I can teach students, but I can also be taught by listening to the students, while communicating with them.
- I can help build a future for these children. Often the parents are too busy working, and they don’t spend time with their children, so as a teacher I can motivate and help them to achieve their goals.
- I have a passion for teaching and I love children!
