One day me and two friends went to the local superette to get a large box. It was the box that smaller boxes of pampers came in. We carried the large box to the stoop of an abandoned building. We sat in the box and counted our change. Fifty cents here, seventy-five cents there. We all went to Mrs. Pearl’s candy store. We bought a mixture of penny cookies, penny candy and potato chips. Mrs. Pearl had a popcorn machine. Ten cents got us a small paper bag full of popcorn. I also liked the barbeque corn chips at Mrs. Pearl’s store. We took our snacks back to our club house and ate our snacks together. I had some good times and many New York City stories.
