For high value educated women the window of opportunity to have children is getting smaller over time. If you have seen the first 10 minutes of Idiocracy that pretty much sums up a lot of what is happening in the United States. Female doctors could seemingly have the hardest time finding someone because medical school is so demanding and essentially requires a woman to give up her 20's. By the time they are done with a fellowship or residency they could be 31 or 32 leaving almost no time to have kids. A woman's fertility can go down by 75% by the age of 35 and they consider pregnancies at 35 and older geriatric pregnancies. This is the actual medical term. There is a lot higher risk of issues during the pregnancies and oftentimes women have to take fertility drugs and jump through a lot of hoops to try to have a kid. Honestly it makes a lot more sense for women to just focus more towards being a mom when she is in her 20's and 30's and then she can focus on her career when the kids are a little older but so many women are trying to reverse the order for various reasons.
