I recently finished a novel, so I thought I would share it with you today. I listened to an audiobook titled Hard Cold Winter by Glen Erik Hamilton, which is part of a series on a character named Van Shaw.
The book is an action and mystery book. The main character, Van Shaw, is a young military veteran working to adjust to civilian life. With his specialized training, he struggles against the mundane life of an ordinary person – a job, girlfriend and no danger – to his regimented training and battlefield experience where there is constant action and his life is on the line.
In this novel, trouble finds Van Shaw and he starts investigating the murder of one of his childhood friends after discovering the crime scene. Through a host of interesting and shady characters, Van Shaw finds himself in the world of corporate theft, the Russian mob, and terrorist groups as he works to figure out what caused his friend to be murdered. There are many twists and turns along the way, and action is fast paced. I will not spoil the entire novel for you, but I recommend it as a good read (or listen)!
Overall, I give this book a 5 out of 5.
I plan to check out other novels in the Van Shaw series.
