Coming into 2018! Another year - another opportunity to help build champions of my kids.
I hear all the time from white hairs -
'just wait till they are teenagers'
I know little about this - my oldest is 9. My wife and I were talking the other day - and realizing that our oldest will be out of the house when we are turning 40! It is just around the corner.
Into 2018
We will spend time talking about new years resolutions for ourselves. It will be common talk amongst your friends at work or in the neighborhood or whatever. My challenge for you is take some time dialoguing with your kids and asking the question what do your kids need in 2018.
Regardless of their age. My wife and I are talking through the question what do our kids really need? At ages 10-3 its different for each of them. But we want to be proactive in it. We understand we are not going to raise healthy, peaceful powerful people by accident. Around every corner there is and insecurity lurking. It's incredibly arrogant of me to think that the depression statistics, gender confusion and emotional turmoil that is puberty is not going to apply to my kids. I just tend to believe that we as parents should take responsibility in empowering, and supporting our kids to take that stuff on with courage, power and real weapons.
So what do your kids need in 2018? You know them best, and you can give them the appropriate support to help them become champions at life.
