With the world mostly connected, and many people now working freelance, the method of payment will surely come under pressure.

Local exchange rates and tax rules may drive many who work on the net to want or demand payment in something more global.

The spike in BTC last jan gave the coin a bad reputation in terms of volatility, but it has been very stable, more so than many fiat currencies for many months now.

Perhaps the time is right to look at a new global, decentralized payment method.

This would be an equalising factor across geographic boundaries.
If work done in USA is worth 10BTC, then the same would or maybe should apply for the same work done in South America or India. The spending power would be much greater in some countries than others.

Does this mean higher paid western country workers will take a 'pay cut' as they compete on a global basis for work?
Will a new global payment standard mean less pay for currently higher paid people?

Swings & roundabouts, but a global payment standard may mean winners & losers.

Time will tell.
