Friday night, and I'm at home with my family instead of working. Work will be even more short-staffed because we're having quite the round of winter weather tonight. My county's main highway is in bad shape.
Yet, I thought I could make it into work, although I would be late.
But I was recalled home by a hysterical wife. The boy threw up in bed, and she couldn't deal with it. So, I had to pull over and call in, then turn around for home.
She and the kids all have the flu now. The boy got it first, and it seems to be running its course. He still has his cough, but the fever has fallen, so this round of vomiting could just be reflux, a disorder he's prone to suffer.
My daughter developed her own bad cough and fever this morning. A few hours ago she was roasting on the couch, but she just made her own supper.
So, the problem, as always, is my dear wife. She's been hacking up a lung for about 36 hours now.
Don't get it, she's scared to leave the house, and scared to be left home alone.
I'll spend the rest of the night cleaning up the house, then fix myself a nice dinner.
It's the least I can do. Probably won't have a job on Monday, thanks to the support I get from my immediate family. For some reason, I love them anyway.
