It was less than a week ago that I wrote this post talking about how impressed I continue to be with the OCD group and their curation efforts.
A person who I recently on-boarded to Hive has been getting some decent votes from them via their community incubation program. It is awesome to see someone get so excited about the platform. Not that Hive doesn't excite me anymore, but after three plus years on the platform, it is cool to see all of the ups and downs through fresh eyes.
That post got me thinking about some of the other curation groups that are around. Groups like Curie, Gems, Curangel, etc and how they are mostly focused on a specific group of people.
I couldn't tell you the last time I got an upvote from Curie. It has been quite some time. Pretty much the same thing with Curangel. The GEMS community does a really great job of supporting users and I still occasionally use the tag, but I was told quite some time ago that my account is too big to receive an upvote from GEMS.
So I am sitting here looking at my relatively small account that has just over 27K Hive compared to other accounts that have close to 100K or more and thinking "my account is too big?".
Don't get me wrong. I am sure 
I'm not even mad about it, this isn't a rant or anything. Just a general observation.
For a while now I have been getting a pretty consistent value of upvotes on my posts. With the recent increase in the price of Hive, that $20 to $30 range seems to be home.
Before the increase, the average on my posts was probably in the $10 to $20 range which seems pretty much in line with the percentage increase in Hive, so I don't think I am getting more upvotes, it's just that the price has gone up.
I am pretty lucky that I gifted a lot of Basic Income shares on the old platform. Those and some much appreciated votes from Build a Whale have been the bulk of my earnings. My posts would likely be in the $5 range if it wasn't for those votes.
My point is, that plateau can be a real downer when you finally hit it. It would be cool if there were some mid tier curation groups that focused on Dolphins specifically. I think it is great that we focus on the smaller users and try to build them up into dolphins and beyond, but what happens when they finally hit that dolphin stage and they get left in the dust?
I've never had a post top 100 or make it to trending. That would be a really cool thing to see one day.
I have a feeling there are a lot of other accounts similar to mine who are just kind of in those doldrums of dolphinhood. Like I said, I'm not asking for a vote on every post, but once a month would be cool if my content was worthy. I just hate to see the group that is doing the core of the engagement missing out.
I think dolphins are kind of like that middle child that gets overlooked and perhaps even neglected at times.
