One of the coolest things 
In advance of our trip, I had done some scouting to get an idea of some potential places we might eat. That was before my sister in law made the decision to try Vivir.
It was during that research that The Bourbon Affair popped on my radar. After they had decided on Vivir, I mentioned to
It was actually her suggestion that we stop in and have a drink. As you can see from the photos above, the place is quite open about what it is on the outside, but as soon as you step through the door, you are simply greeted with a long hallway.
I honestly wasn't sure what door I was supposed to go through, but I continued through the passage and tried the door that was right in front of me.
I chose right because that doorway led me to the beautiful, antique, dimly lit bar that you see in the opening photo.
There weren't that many people in the place. Then again, it was pretty early on a Friday evening. I saw a clump of older people at the end of the bar. I am guessing they were regulars because they seemed quite familiar with the staff.
As I said, I had already looked at their website, so I kind of had an idea before had of what I wanted to try.

I was honestly just too overwhelmed.
As you can see, it's not a very big establishment, but what it lacked in size, it definitely made up for in charm. The feel of the place was just amazing, from the old whiskey barrels laying around here and there to the over abundance of wood paneling and cabinetry.
It was amazing. I could see the draw of spending lots of time here. If I lived closer, it would actually be a bit dangerous.
I know it might be hard to read, but this is just a portion of the menu of what they had to offer. The prices felt pretty reasonable with some of the more expensive pours being in the $40 range.
Personally, I went with the Maker's Mark: Maker's Select. If you read my post I wrote a while ago about the Maker's Mark distillery, you will remember that they have special barrels they allow business to custom make. Those businesses take a mixture of 10 wood staves and put them in the barrel to create a unique flavor.
That's what The Bourbon Affair did for this batch of Maker's Mark and I knew I needed to try it out.
The dram was quite good. I went ahead and got it on the rocks, but I kind of wish I had decided to try it neat first. We just had the one drink and then it was time to head down to the Vivir for dinner.

It is an intriguing idea, but I know several people on Hive who have run bars in the past or currently and I am not sure it is for me. I do like the idea though.
We spent the majority of our time looking at the bottles on the shelf with my wife asking me if there were any I didn't recognize or which ones I have tried and which ones I haven't.
She pointed out how cool the army green The Bourbon Affair shirt was on the right side of the bar there. I ended up buying one. The bartender told me that it was buy one shirt get one half off. I tried to make a new friend with some of the other patrons so they could get a half off shirt, but I couldn't find any takers.
Which is too bad because the bartender also pointed out that if you wear your shirt into the bar on Tuesday's, you get half off your pours or something like that.
Definitely a good way to keep people coming back.
It was cool to see that they had beers like PBR on tap as well, but I don't know as though I would ever drink a beer in this place. Not with that selection of whiskey in front of me.
The Bourbon Affair is definitely a must visit if you ever make your way to Findlay, OH.
