Another week gone by …
Sitting in my car waiting for my son to finish soccer practice, the World Baseball Classic on the mini-screen in the car’s dashboard (Japan vs. Mexico), thinking about the perfect bio to write for my LinkedIn profile and wondering what kind of job I would like to have.
All this while trying to write this post. That’s how I’ve been recently—all over the place, unfocused, and not able to get much done. At least, that’s how it feels.
In reality, I’ve studied French for at least 20 minutes, I’ve written seven new poems (one a day), I’ve continued my push-up routine without interruption, I’ve worked on new designs, I’ve made progress in understanding how to format Illustrator files for spot printing, which is totally different from process printing (something that, until last week, I had never even heard of), and, on top of all of that, I’ve kept up with planning all of my private lessons.
So, it isn’t like I’m not being productive.
But, somehow, I don’t know … I feel like I’m just … not working on the things that I should be working on … like I’m not doing the things that I need to be doing in order to get to where I want to be.
So it goes … (Poo-tee-weet)
Here are this week’s poems. Please feel free to give me a critique or let me know which one’s you like and/or don’t like.
(1)
Before and after
this ever-present moment,
there is nothing.
(2)
All these years later,
your shoes are still by the door
when I come home.
(3)
If only there were
a window I could open
in the clouds today.
(4)
Sometimes they take me
where I don’t want to go —
old photo albums.
(5)
Remember when people
read newspapers on trains and
stared out the windows?
(6)
When I had the time
to do what I wanted to do,
I didn’t do it.
(7)
Were it possible
to feel the importance of
this moment. Wow!
As always, thanks for reading.
