Ubuntu 17.10.1 came out. The BIOS bug has been fixed and the Spectre/Meltdown exploits are no longer working on Ubuntu. It's a huge update, because Ubuntu no longer uses Unity as his default desktop environment. It's moving back to GNOME. You can download the new version here.
