The quote and the learning
I am currently reading „Inkheart“ by Cornelia Funke. It is written for young adults but there I found a quote that fits almost perfectly for todays sentiment on the markets.
In the Book, Mo says: “Fear kills everything - the mind, the heart, and imagination.”
Surprisingly, this line explains why buying on bad market days feels almost impossible.
When markets fall, fear takes over. It clouds rational thinking, narrows our perspective, and makes every drop feel like the beginning of disaster. Anticyclical investing, however, requires the opposite mindset: staying calm, thinking long-term, and seeing opportunity where others see panic.
The lesson? Fear isn’t a market signal, it’s an emotional one. Recognizing that helps us step back, breathe, and make decisions based on value, not anxiety.
Sometimes a fantasy novel says it better than any finance textbook.
