An extremely rare – to a point of almost extinct – teddy bear-like bunny that was only found in China was photographed for the first time since it was discovered.
The Lli Pika, an eight-inches long relatives of the bunny, is considered one of the most endangered animals with only a thousand remaining in the wild.
According to scientists it’s population in the Tianshan mountain range in the Xinjiang region of northwestern China was reduced to 70% since its discover in 1983.
Formally known as Ochota iliensis, the Lli Pika was first discovered by conservationist Li Weidong in 1983 and named it after his hometown. In 2002, he went back to conduct another demographic and found out that instead of multiplying the cute creature’s population was reduced to 2,000.
