Toney is a crazy person. And that's something that everyone around her would agree with. But it's only because she is very impulsive. She takes risks like there her cup of vitamins. She even performs stunts that even God himself banned from heaven. But to her, it was always child's play, another act to be conquered, another challenge defeated, and another level completed.
Toney was so into stunts especially bicycle stunts which she found very intriguing and oddly satisfying. She owned a bike which was green in color, and whenever she rode it, it looked a little bit undersized for her but when she starts flipping the bicycle in an everywhich way, she would perform stunts that would make the devil repent from his sins. And that's why everybody in the hood calls her the "daredevil".
One day, Toney ran up to me smiling and dancing. She was stinking with happiness. When she finally came in contact with me, she shoved the paper she was holding to my face, it flew off as soon as she released it but I caught it quickly and gracefully like Gotham's knight versus the joker.
I took a good look at the paper and after realizing that it was not just a paper but a flyer for a bicycle contest, I looked at her in the face but she only smiled In a way that revealed a hundred percent of her beauty. I laughed a little and she jokingly shoved me aside.
We ended up walking the long way home, on our way I couldn't help but asked her why? And once again she laughed and replied in her tiny but cute voice "I love a good challenge".
And with my eyes still glued to hers, I said "but you know this is dangerous? It's one thing performing a random stunt on the street just for fun and it's another thing to do in front of thousands of people, especially where the odds are highly stacked against you".
She smiled again saying "if it doesn't move me then it's not worth doing". I made a giggling laugh knowing she wouldn't give in to logical reasons and she followed right after and we both gave our selfs a big smile as we continue to walk down the road observing the beautiful sunset.
Days later I got a message from Toney, it was a video message. It was a day after the contest. Toney only sends me videos of her most impactful moments or her most amazing stunts. So I clicked on the video with a wide smile on my face. My feelings were flying free in the room but once I open the video I sensed the darkness in its full cloak approaching me. The video pierced my heart with an arrow of pain and confusion.
Toney didn't win the contest, instead, she lost In a manner that was completely heartbreaking and humiliating. My eyes bled tears.
For months, Toney kept to herself. Apart from me, she spoke to no one. And despite my trying to Cheer her up she just wouldn't bulge. Until one day I decided to stand my ground and seriously speak to her. It didn't take long for her to dismiss it, well, that was until I should her the tape she sent me. She broke down in tears and fell into my arms. I in turn held her tight reassuring her that there was no need to worry and everything was okay.
After our long deep-hearted talk that day. Toney slowly reverted to her normal calm, lovely, cheerful, and daring self. It turned out all she needed was a little bit of closure.
The next year, Tone re-enter the bicycle competition and emerged as the top victor. And from then onwards my love for Toney never died.
