My current situation regarding Google Maps.
Even though its officially day 46 of the bootcamp today really feels like it could have been day 49 or 50. That's not just because I spent Saturday and Sunday at campus working with my classmates on the final project. But because I put in a solid 11 hour day today on top of it.
Long days in and of themselves don't bother me. Working in hospitality I put in 14hr days during the annual Virtuoso travel week. They were productive days with no time to think about anything except the next party coming in. Its physically draining unless you stay hydrated and fed. But this final project is mentally taxing and that makes a huge difference. Especially since I am working with lots of technology that I'm not yet comfortable with, such as the Google Maps API.
I basically spent all day writing and rewriting the same page. My plan is to create a page that will take a generated list of locations (chosen by the user on a different screen) and populate a map with them as waypoints in a route that starts & ends at the same place. In terms of the final project, the driver selects a number of stops. He will leave the rescue shelter, visit each waypoint to pickup items, then return to the rescue shelter.
The map has been created and waypoints can be manually added to the code. But that's not what I want...I need for it to be dynamic and pull from the generated list. My goal for tomorrow is to complete that map and I know I'm going to have to ask for help to do it. But my classmates are depending on me, so being silent and struggling for another 11 hours is not an option.
Maybe a little perspective would help. It has only been officially one day into the project so getting into panic mode is a bit premature.
On a positive note, working with Semantic UI has been fun so far. Styling is a thing that I really do enjoy and am confident with. I've created only a few components since we started work but didn't use Semantic during that time. So I'm looking forward to going back over them and giving them a nice face-lift.
